The All-Russian Student Rugby Snow Festival took place at “KAI-Olymp” Sports and Leisure Complex.
On February 22, the All-Russian Student Festival Snow Zilant-2020 was held at the stadium of “KAI-Olymp” Sports and Leisure Complex. The 12 men's and 8 women's teams from the universities of Kazan, as well as teams from the Republic of Bashkortostan, Surgut, Ulyanovsk and Yoshkar-Ola participated in this event. Moreover, during the festival, matches between women's teams: Zilant (Kazan), Snaryad (Togliatti), Volnye Pticy (Nizhny Novgorod) and Athletic (Ulyanovsk) took place.
The opening ceremony was chaired by the President of the Rugby Federation of Tatarstan Airat Shafigullin, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan, Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Tatarstan Rafis Burganov, Rector of the KNRTU-KAI Albert Gilmutdinov, Chairman of the USK "Burevestnik" Emir Kharisov, Head Coach of RC "Strela" JP Nel and other honorable guests.
The first to congratulate the participants was the rector of KNRTU-KAI Albert Gilmutdinov: “On a bright sunny day like that, I am happy to welcome you at our university! More than two dozen teams came to visit us, as well as Volnye Pticy from Nizhny Novgorod and Snaryad from Togliatti. I wish good luck to all athletes, and may the best team win! "
The Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan, Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Tatarstan Rafis Burganov gave a commencement speech: “Dear citizens of Kazan and guests of our city! On behalf of the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan, I welcome you at the oldest university of our Republic. I am sure we will see an exciting competition! I declare the festival officially open, and I wish the best of luck to all teams, and to be free of injury!”
The games at group stage started early in the morning and took place on two fields at the same time. After the opening ceremony, the teams continued their matches. Towards the evening, the finals began, where the teams fought for prize-winning places.
