KAI held meeting of Association for digital development promotion

The Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Republic Mr. Rustam Minnikhanov discussed cybersecurity issues during the event

On June 13, in the eighth educational building of KNRTU-KAI, a meeting of the Association for Digital Development Promotion with the participation of Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Mr. Rustam Minnikhanov took place. The agenda was cybersecurity in the republic and personnel training for that area.

Firstly, attendees of the event visited the exposition of the Interuniversity Center for Countering Cyber Threats, where KNRTU-KAI students presented their work experience.

The meeting was opened by the Rais (Head) of Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov: “Tatarstan has all the necessary resources to make a significant contribution to accept this critical challenge. About 12 thousand students study computer and information sciences in 21 universities of Tatarstan. Over the past 5 years, the number of students in these fields of study has increased by 40 %, and the target admission levels at the expense of the federal budget have increased 1.5 times.”

Mr. Aidar Guzairov, CEO of InnoSTage group of companies, spoke about cyber resilience as an essential foundation for the existence of the digital economy, and reported on the experience of working with universities in the framework of the general project.

Moreover, according to the InnoSTage CEO, last year on the basis of four leading Tatarstan universities the Center for Countering Cyber Threats was launched. The main goal of the project is to increase the level of information security among Russian universities, subsequently to prepare highly-qualified experts to work in real-world conditions.

Vice Rector for Development and Digital Transformation of KNRTU-KAI Mr. Ayrat Khasyanov introduced the Digital Department project, established at the university in the framework of the Center for Countering Cyber Threats. “Together with the universities we are implementing joint supplementary educational programs. Internships at the Center is an integral part of the curricula, implemented both at the Digital Department and the Institute of Computer Technology and Information Protection,” noted Vice Rector Khasyanov.

Representatives of Innopolis University, Kazan Federal University, Kazan State Power Engineering University also participated in the meeting, they shared their own experience in the implementation of the cyber threats related projects, training of IT and cybersecurity specialists.
